Certificate in Business Ownership
This course runs for 12 weeks and is made up of 6 modules, all of which come together into a coherent and workable business plan. The assessment for the course is the business plan and on successful completion of all components of the plan students will be awarded a Certificate in Business Ownership from Aoraki Polytechnic
Course Reference Book (supplied): The Small Business Book - A New Zealand guide for the 21st century (5th Edition) - Leith Oliver and John English.
Other resources supplied include: - Lessons and course notes - these are available for download when logged in to the course website.
- A Business Plan Template
- All workshop material - including paper, pens etc
Workshops:
A series of evening workshops will be run in the area specified in the course name, e.g. Waikato, Rotorua. Whether a workshop is run or not is dependant on the number of participants.
Workshops are an opportunity to meet with other students and the tutor to focus on specific areas of the course. There will also be some guest speakers to talk about specialty areas. These speakers may include IRD Small Business Advisors, Lawyers, Accountants, Small Business owners - depending on availability in your area. While the workshops are not compulsory, they are a very valuable component of the course.
Online Classroom:
All course materials are supplied online and there are areas for discussion forums and chatrooms. Each week set tasks for completion will be added to the site and instructions on what parts of the business plan should be completed.
Mentoring and Support:
You will have direct email and phone contacts for the tutor to discuss individual issues as you go through the course. There will also be opportunities for one-to-one feedback and discussion with the tutor around the times of the workshops.
Costs:
There is no fee for the online component of the course. The book can be purchased from us for a $50.00.
